Elon Students Bring Flowers of Hope to Shelter Residents

An unexpected surprise arrived at the ACAC Shelter on the Friday before Valentine's Day. Several women from Elon University arrived with personalized cards and flower bouquets for each woman and child staying with us. "The Flower Project" as the students call it, is an initiative that began when a class speaker inspired them to take action for women in trying situations.

After gathering donations through an online campaign, the group spent time putting together hundreds of flowers and cards.

The students hoped that their flowers and cards would be reminder to women in Alamance County that they are loved, and that the small gesture would plant a seed of happiness - even in the midst of a difficult circumstances.

ACAC Shelter residents proudly displayed their flowers during the week of Valentine's Day. The thoughtful gifts brought smiles, laughter, and best of all - hope.
