ACAC Hires New Program Director

We are thrilled to announce the hiring of a new Program Director! This newly created staff position will oversee shelter, food pantry, and kitchen operations. ACAC has recently taken a leading role in Alamance County for the intake of those in need of housing. The Program Director will be a huge asset as our essential programs grow.

Jan Bowman has most recently served as the McKinney-Vento Program Specialist for the Alamance-Burlington School System, where she grew a passion for assisting the homeless and at-risk population in Alamance County. Her emphasis was on linking families and unaccompanied youth to educational services and coordinating additional services to help eliminate the barriers associated with homelessness.

In her new role at ACAC, her goal is to provide another level of support to the ACAC staff, residents and guests, and motivated community stakeholders. She will focus on using these key relationships to move valued individuals from a temporary state of homelessness to being permanently housed and self-sufficient.

"I am honored and humbled to be a part of the ambitious ACAC team and support their vision to provide the most comprehensive plan possible to meet the unique needs of Alamance County’s most at-risk population. Proper assessment of need and connections to appropriate services will be a priority with the goal of empowering our residents and guests with the skills and resources needed for lifelong sustainability," says Jan.

With her 3 children now in college, she enjoys running, cycling and photography in her spare time. Welcome, Jan!

You can reach Jan by email at jbowman@alliedchurches.org or by phone at (336)229-0881 ext. 105.
